Today marks the official consumer launch of Windows Vista, or as us Mac users say, “YAWN.” There was a time where I’d be thrilled to get my hands upon the world’s most advanced and user-friendly computer OS but then I bought a Mac and realized I already owned the world’s most advanced and user-friendly computer OS.
Everything I’ve seen thus far in Vista points to little more than a superficial upgrade, struggling to achieve some level of parity in operability equal to Apple’s OS X. Of course Microsoft’s new offering come in six different versions, costs over $200 dollars in some cases, and requires significant investment in hardware to achieve usable performance.
Apple’s OS X, notsomuch.
I’m so happy I got off the upgrade treadmill years ago. Adios, Windows…XP, Vista Home Basic, Vista Home Premium, Vista Business, Vista Enterprise, Vista Ultimate…
