It’s been rumored for some time but last week the first pictures of the forthcoming “Xbox 360 Elite” surfaced on the web. Aside from the all-black enclosure, this version of the 360 includes the formerly-MIA HDMI port — important for those wanting to play 1080p content without a VGA connector — and a much larger 120 GB hard drive.
Originally I was pretty enthused about the new 360 until I spent more time thinking about it. As strange as it may sound, pairing a black 360 with my slew of all-white 360 accessories — including the HD-DVD player — doesn’t sound attractive at all. HDMI would certainly be nice and although my set doesn’t have an HDMI port (HDCP via DVI) it’s always nice to be future-proofed. Larger hard drive? I still have over 10GB free on my current one.
